(1909-1993), with special attention to how she healed herself with art. After the death of her son
from alcoholism, at age 68, Elizabeth - with no art background - took a Blind Contour Self-

interventions or electroshock (13 episodes). After drawing daily for six months, Elizabeth's
depression was relieved, and she exhibited her art in a one woman exhibition at the
Smithsonian institute. BCS-PDs appear to safely engage a neurological process, not unlike
EMDR. The lecture will describe Elizabeth's techniques, and offer a handout, as well as, a link
to a published article on the topic.

1. Explain how Mrs. Layton used the Blind Contour Self-Portrait Drawing Technique to heal
her mental illness and grief.
2. Analyze how and why the Blind Contour Self-Portrait Drawing Technique enhances healing potential by engaging neurological processes.

The recovery of the Sacred Parts of the Self (Emilse del Socorro Zabaleta; Mariella Cereceda)
We viewed addictions as a multifactorial phenomenon that affect people in all the different dimensions of their lives, we focus on a process of recovery that includes all these aspects and that allows the person to recognize the patterns of thought and behavior that are behind consumption and, also to understand that although some of this thought processes are going to remain part of the way they view life they do not define who they are or take away the full potential of their being. We would like to share with you this approach and our take on treatment.
